What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They are what let a site remember a preference between visits, or count how many people read a page without knowing who any of them are.
Marina Bell uses very few of them, and none that follow you around the internet afterwards.
What this site uses
There are no advertising cookies on this site, and no third-party trackers for social networks or ad networks.
Essential: a small number of cookies needed for the site to load and display correctly. These cannot be turned off.
Preferences: remembering choices you have made, such as a dismissed banner, so you are not asked twice.
Analytics: anonymous, aggregated counts of which pages are read. No individual profile is built.
Third-party cookies
Embedded content — a map, a video, or a photograph hosted elsewhere — may set its own cookies when it loads. Those are governed by the policies of the service in question rather than by this one.
Managing cookies
Every major browser lets you see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block them entirely — usually under Settings, then Privacy.
Blocking all cookies is entirely your right. Blocking the essential ones may mean parts of the site stop behaving as intended, which is a trade-off worth knowing about before you do it.
Chrome: Settings then Privacy and security then Third-party cookies.
Safari: Settings then Privacy then Manage Website Data.
Firefox: Settings then Privacy and Security then Cookies and Site Data.
Edge: Settings then Cookies and site permissions.
