The short version
Marina Bell is a personal site, not a business with a marketing department. I collect as little as possible, I do not sell anything to anyone, and you can ask me to delete what I hold at any time.
This page explains what is collected, why, and what you can do about it.
What I collect
I do not collect payment details, because nothing here is for sale. I do not ask for your date of birth, address, or telephone number.
Your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter — nothing else is required.
Your name, email, and message, if you use the contact form, so that I can reply.
Anonymous, aggregated analytics about which pages are read and roughly where readers are in the world.
Why I collect it
Newsletter addresses are used for one thing only: sending the newsletter. Contact form details are used to reply to you and are not added to any mailing list.
Analytics tell me which recipes people actually cook, which helps me decide what to write next. They are aggregated and cannot be traced back to an individual.
Who else sees it
Your data is never sold, rented, or traded. It is shared only with the services that make the site work — an email provider for the newsletter, a hosting provider, and an analytics provider — and only to the extent they need it.
Those providers process data on my instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
How long it is kept
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, which you can do from the bottom of any email. Contact form messages are kept for two years so I can pick up an old thread, then deleted.
Analytics data is retained in aggregate and contains nothing that identifies you.
Your rights
To exercise any of these, email hello@marinabell.com. I will respond within thirty days, and usually a great deal sooner.
Ask what personal data I hold about you, and receive a copy of it.
Ask me to correct anything that is wrong.
Ask me to delete it entirely.
Withdraw consent to the newsletter at any time, without giving a reason.
Complain to your local data protection authority if you are unhappy with how I have handled something.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects you materially, subscribers will be told by email rather than left to notice it here. The date below always reflects the current version.
